Since we know that we are just temporarily living in NJ for Ethan's work assignment, Ethan and I agreed that we'd take full advantage of all that this area has to offer. We try to get out every other weekend to try and see something new. One thing that we really wanted to do was to experience the "Jersey Shore." We visited Point Pleasant one day - very fun boardwalk, shops, restaurants and amusement rides. A couple friends of our's from TX recommended that we visit Long Beach Island, NJ, known as"LBI" to the locals. So, we packed our van full of clothes, beach gear and food and headed down for a week at the end of July. The water was so clear and the weather was perfect! It was sunny and in the lower 80s all week!
Olivia and I on the porch of the 2nd floor rental house.
Our rental house was about two blocks away from the beach, which was private. Every day, we felt like we had the beach to ourselves.
Of course I had to get matching suits for the Girls!
Olivia loved the water, especially when Daddy took her far out. It took Callie a couple days to brave putting her toes in the water.
At the end of our block is the Bay Side that provided some of the prettiest sunsets.
Ready for the beach again, with our funny faces!
One night, we went to Fantasy Island in Beach Haven. Here we are on the ferris wheel with no seat belts available. Crazy Callie was making me nervous!
Mid-week provided some of the calmest and clearest water. Definitely not Galveston!
The Girls played really well together.
Here is Callie doing what she does best - running away!
But, she also fell asleep on the sand for a little bit!
One night after dinner, we explored a nice playground along the bayside in Beach Haven. Turns out to be one of the 26 Angels Play playgrounds in the NE, each dedicated to a victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.
Another magnificent sunset on the Bay
Ice Cream!
We definitely hope to be back next summer!
